CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Brevard College women’s basketball team took an early lead for a 61-39 victory over Queens University of Charlotte at Curry Arena during Saturday night’s game.
The Tornados (7-13, 6-10 SAC) succeeded the Royals (5-15, 4-12 SAC) by as large of a lead as 28 points in the second half.
Shelby Wolfe reached a game-high of 19 points during the game while making seven points at the free throw line. Freshman, Madison Lenox, carried 15 points of her own after mastering seven points in the paint. Chelsea Turner rounded out defensive rebounds and led the team in seven while teammate Katie Williams gathered 14 points and rebounded six.
The Royals were able to stay within reach of the Tornados for most of the first half. Brevard gained their largest lead of the half at the 4:44 mark when Chelsea Turner passed the ball up to teammate Shelby Wolfe for layup advancing BC’s lead by 13.
Brevard began the second half leading 24-15 and Chelsea Turner quickly retrieved the ball off of a rebound to push up court to teammate Madison Lenox for the layup. The lead continued to stay in favor of Brevard College through the end of the game.
The Tornados return to Brevard on February 12 against Carson Newman at 6 pm.
