BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College men’s basketball team dropped an 89-67 decision to the Carson-Newman Eagles on Monday night in South Atlantic Conference action in Boshamer Gymnasium despite a 29-point effort from BC's Dominique Pickett.
Pickett connected on a Brevard College single-game record eight three-pointers, and went 10-of-17 from the field to notch his sixth 20-point performance of the season. Trevon Shaw, who finished with 14 points, was the only other Tornado to finish in double figures.
The Eagles quickly stretched their lead to 18 on a 10-4 run to start the second half before the Tornados started to make a run at the lead midway through the half.
Pickett was responsible for eight points during a 12-5 run that brought BC to within eight points at the 7:10 mark.
The Eagles responded with eight unanswered points to stifle BC’s chances as they pushed the lead back into double digits for the rest of the game. Reigning SAC Player of the Year Antoine Davis posted 26 points and eight rebounds while Ish Sanders had 18 points and six assists.
The Tornados limited the Eagles to only 32 points in the first half, and trailed by 10 at the break.
