SALISBURY, N.C.- The Catawba women's basketball team (13-11, 11-9 SAC) pulled past Brevard College (7-17, 6-14 SAC) Tornados in the last three and a half minutes of the game to win in a low scoring 47-44 game at Goodman Gym on Saturday, February 22.
The Tornados took the largest lead of the South Atlantic Conference game at 37-28 after a layup was up made by Madison Lenox at the 11:13 mark of the second half.
BC’s Madison Lenox reached a game high and team high of 22 points for the game contributing to half of Brevard’s points.
Brevard led going into the second half 20-18 after Lenox placed in a layup with 2:30 left in the half after a close first half never let either team gain larger than a two-point margin.
Madison Lenox led Brevard into a 5-0 run with another layup and a three pointer off a pass from Hadara Bannister.
Catawba went on a 13-8 run to tie the score at 44-44 for the ninth time during the game. Brevard remained at 44 points while Catawba made a 3-0 run to finish the game.
The Tornados will play their next game on Wednesday, February 26th hosting Mars Hill for a tip-off at 6 p.m. at Boshamer Gymnasium.
