JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- The Brevard College (1-11, 0-4 SAC) men’s tennis team wasn’t able to grasp the win over Carson-Newman (4-13, 2-4 SAC) losing 5-4 in the South Atlantic Conference match.
The Tornados gained an early advantage out of doubles. David Taggart and Rory Northam defeated Juan Perez and Stefano Daza in the No.1 spot in a competitive 8-6 set. George Finch and Nathan Sabate anchored doubles with another win for BC against Lee Presson and Daniel Douglas at 8-2. Brevard led the match leaving doubles at 2-1.
Singles started off with another with for Taggart after he took Perez into extra sets winning the first 6-2 then falling 1-6 in the second then finished with 6-2 for the win. Rory Northam played Daza at No.2 singles winning the first set 6-2 then falling 6-4, 6-0 resulting in an Eagles point.
George Finch took home the last victory for BC when he competed against Douglas in the No.6 spot. Finch won the final singles spot at 6-4, 6-3.
The Tornados will host Wingate University this Sunday at the McCoy Tennis Complex at Brevard starting at 2:00 p.m.
