JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Brevard College ( 3-7, 0-4 SAC ) women’s tennis team finished short to the Carson-Newman Eagles (8-7, 2-3 SAC) losing 6-3 during the Thursday afternoon match.
The Tornados began singles down by two points but quickly earned wins at No.1 and No.2 singles. Katie Daugherty was positioned at No.1 for the match against Patricia Guerreiro. She came out with a win for BC after winning the set 6-3, 6-1.
Michelle Prata earned the next singles point for the Tornados against the Eagles Stefy Stand. Prata began with a 6-2 win while Stand came back 7-5 the second to tie things up. BC took the victory after Michelle won the extra set at 6-3.
Daugherty and Prata paired up to win doubles against the Eagles Stefy Stand and Breanne Tremblay earlier to match, leaving doubles with C-N up 2-1.
The remainder of the singles was unsuccessful for the Tornados as they couldn’t find the win over Carson-Newman. Jule Hermann put up four points against Tremblay in the first set but could only make one in the second.
The Tornados will host Wingate University at the McCoy Tennis Complex this Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m.
