HARROGATE, TN- The women’s tennis team of Brevard College (3-12, 0-5 SAC) traveled to play in their sixth consecutive South Atlantic Conference match, losing 7-2 against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial (7-5, 4-3 SAC).

Michelle Prata won the first point for Brevard after defeating Gemma Goodland in the No.2 singles position. Prata gained a three point advantage on the first set winning 6-3 then swept Goodland during the second set 6-0.

Claudia Hellman rose above the Railsplitters Roksolana Prudyvus during the No.4 singles match-up. The first set finished in a 7-5 win for BC then Hellman took a larger lead in the second set to win 6-3.

The Tornados finished doubles unable to gain a point for the team.  Katie Daugherty and Michelle Prata played in the closest match against Elena Vasilyeva and Gemma Goodland. The two duos pushed each other finishing in a 9-7 win for LMU.

The Tornados will play at Lenoir-Rhyne this Friday at Hickory High School at 2:00 p.m.
