BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College (1-15, 0-8 SAC) men’s tennis team was swept 9-0 while traveling to Tusculum College (14-3, 7-1 SAC) on April 6.
Doubles began with the David Taggart and Rory Northam duo at the No.1 spot for BC. The two took on Jonas Winkelmann and Lukas Winkelmann of Tusculum concluding in an 8-3 win for TC. Christoph Plasa and Guilherme Prophirio competed for Brevard at No.2 doubles, unable to win over David Siegle and Joseph Elphingstone resulting in the same 8-3 loss.
George Finch played in an exciting match against Joseph Elphingstone during No.6 singles when the two went into extra sets. Finch won the first at 6-5 then fell 2-6 in the second. The two continued into the third set neck and neck finishing at 11-9 for the Pioneers.
Taggart played Lukas Winkelmann during the No.1 singles match finishing close behind in the first set at 7-5. The second set didn’t finish quite as close as the first when Winklemann swept Taggart at 6-0.
Brevard will play at home at the McCoy Tennis Courts this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. against Catawba.
