SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Brevard college track & field team traveled to race in the Wofford Invitational this past weekend at Wofford College.
Brevard had the most runners competing during the women’s 1500 meter run. Heidi Kaartinen finished the highest in 21st place against 61 runners at 5:08.00 and 5:19.00 in the finals. Angela Canale was just 12 seconds behind at 5:20.00 then 10 seconds behind at 5:30.42. Ashley Lowe, Elena Raygoza and Madison Smith finished not far behind at 5:34.31 to 5:51.33.
Jordan Tager kept his pace while running the 1500 meter. He finished his preliminary at 4:16.30 then finished in the finals at 4:16.90.
BC’s Litahni Brown and Kadijah Watts competed the women’s 100 meter. Brown finished at 13.25 then 13.72 in the finals, while Watts was at 13.00 initially and ended at 13.91 in the finals. Brown also competed in the women’s 200 meter dash where she placed at 27.62 and finished at 27.85 in the finals.
The men’s 100 meter put Rufus Jenkins at 11.30 then 12.00 and teammated Josh Grinstead at 11.02 and 12.10 in the finals. Grinstead faced the timer again as he competed in the 200 meter dash finishing at 23.84 then 24.27. Micah Voelzow finished slightly behind at 24.75 and 25.00.
Micah Volezow jumped at 1.80 meters while representing Brevard in the men’s high jump.
The teams will run at the Furman Blue Shoes in Greenville, S.C on Saturday, April 12.
