BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College (1-16, 0-9 SAC ) men’s tennis team couldn’t find the win as they finished short against Catawba College Indians (9-16, 2-9 SAC) at 6-3 at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Saturday, April 9.
Catawba took an early lead over Brevard after taking two of the three doubles. Nathan Sabate and George Finch won the only doubles win for BC after defeating Aaron Vanhorenbeck and Iago Montero Nunez at 8-6 in No.3 doubles. David Taggart and Rory Northam fell short at 8-4 against the Indians Pierce Hoover and Jack Mordey. Christoph Plasa and Guilherme Prophirio also finished behind the Catawba duos in No.2 doubles at 8-3.
Nathan Sabate continued with another win against Jack Mordey at No.3 singles after winning in extra sets at 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 while teammate George Finch finished with the final win for BC at No.6 singles against Aaron Vanhorenbeck at 6-2, 6-3.
Catawba’s Michael Patch came back from a 7-5 loss in the first set against Christoph Plasa to win 6-7, 10-3 in the last two for the win.
The Brevard College men’s tennis team will host Queens University of Charlotte tomorrow, April 10 at 2:00 pm at the McCoy Tennis Complex for another SAC match up.
