Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Brevard Tornado track team kicked off their 2009 season Saturday at the Wake Forest Open, hosted by Wake Forest University. Against a strong field highlighted by several NCAA Division I teams, several Tornados placed well in their events.
In the women's 1500 meter run, Brittany Radenbaugh placed 82nd with a time of 6:11.20, while Chynna Shipp was 83rd in a time of 6:48.29
In the men's 200 meter dash, Justin Fleming placed 45th with a time of 22.90, Shaton Pratt was 65th in 23.23, Damon Martin was 94th in 25.11, Boyd Mulwee was 97th in 25.41 and ReShaun Parks was 98th in 26.09.
In the men's 1500 meter run, Martin finished 112th in 4:32.46, Tiffen Tapia was 119th in 4:40.41, and Zach Hazen was 124th in 4:57.06.
In the men's 3000 meter run, Tapia was 47th in 10:19.32 and Hazen was 48th in 10:41.51.
Throwing the discus, Stanley Jones was 34th with a heave of 36.19m and Jacob Richardson was 41st with a distance of 26.45m.
The Tornados return to the track April 8 at the USC Invitational.
