Brevard, N.C. - Allie Hovis scored her seventh goal of the year for the Tornados as they maintained a 1-0 lead through the first half and most of the second before Mars Hill tied the game for good in the 64th minute.
Brevard goes to 6-9-1 and 0-5-1 in the conference, while Mars Hill goes to 2-12-1 and 0-5-1 in the conference.
Hovis scored in the tenth minute off of a cross from Bailey Varley to give the Tornados a 1-0 lead. Brevard outshot Mars Hill 12-5 in the first and controlled the ball to maintain the 1-0 lead into the second half.
The Lions finally scored when Abby Martin knocked a shot past Sydney Douglas for an unassisted goal. Douglas, who leads the conference in saves, record seven Friday night while allowing just one goal.
Hovis threatened to score again when she had a free kick opportunity in the first overtime. Her shot hit the cross bar before bouncing down towards the Lions keeper, Chelsea Parker, who grabbed the bouncing ball and held on for another save.
The Tornados once again threatened in the second overtime. Varley, who led the team with seven shots, knocked a well placed shot past Parker before the play was called offsides. Mars Hill held on for the 1-1 tie despite being outshot by Brevard 23-13.
The Tornados have just three games remaining and will travel to Emmanuel on Thursday October 22 for the first of the three.
