Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College softball team will be hosting a Winter Clinic at Boshamer Gymnasium on January 16th and 17th for all athletes ages eight and up.
Coach Britne Stubbs and Coach Anna Williamson will be joined by Alissa Smith, former assistant coach at the University of Maryland and Bethune-Cookman University, and Bryan Pack, the assistant coach at USC-Upstate, as well as many of the Brevard College players as they work with campers on fielding, base-running, offense, pitching and catching.
The first day session will consist of the fielding, base-running and offense, which will focus on proper defensive techniques on the infield and outfield positions, as well as instruction timed base-running and sliding and the proper fastpitch hitting techniques.
Sessions on the second day include pitching, where the coaches will break down the fundamentals of pitching and work on grips and techniques of throwing different pitches, while in the afternoon catchers will receive instruction on stance, blocking, throwing to bases, tracking pop-ups, signal calling and general game defensive strategy.
Campers will be able to purchase lunch each day at the camp from 12:00-1:00 p.m.
