2013 (RS Freshman): Had a 1-2 record in six starts for the Tornados...Had a 6.66 ERA on the season in 24.1 innings pitched...Limited opposing hitters to a .269 average while recording 13 strikeouts...Earned his only win of the season against Winston-Salem State on March 19th. 

2012 (Freshman): Redshirted after pitching in only four games...Earned a 1-2 record in four starts...Recorded a 4.71 ERA in 21 innings pitched...Tallied 19 strikeouts to only six walks...Earned first collegiate win against Lenoir-Rhyne on February 25th. 

High School: Chaplain comes to Brevard from Black Mountain, N.C. where he played at Owen High School under Coach Anthony Lee. He was a two-time All-Western Highlands Conference selection and was the 2011 Owen High School Most Valuable player, as well as earning Western Highlands Conference Player of the Year honors. He was also voted to the NC All-State and All-WNC teams. In addition to baseball, Chaplain also played basketball where he was an All-Western Highlands Conference tournament selection in 2010. In the classroom, Chaplain earned the 2012 Western Highlands Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

He is the son of Darin and Teresa Chaplain.
