Mark Lemel, M.D. | Team Physician
Mark Lemel MD joined Brevard Orthopaedics in June 2004 after practicing in Jacksonville, Florida for eleven years. He began training at Case Western Reserve University Medical School in 1982. He followed this with a six-year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland. One year of this time was spent in a microvascular surgery fellowship. Dr. Lemel spent a year in Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital doing a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. He also spent time in Freiburg, Germany on a traveling fellowship in limb surgery.
Dr. Lemel has done presentations at numerous meetings and served as President of the Florida Hand Surgery Society from 2004-2006. His clinical interests include surgery of the hand and foot. He enjoys interacting with patients and colleagues and taking care of the "whole patient". Along the way, Dr. Lemel met Page Ives, known locally as the fourth generation director of Keystone Camp. The two married in 1995 and have three children - Catherine, Hannah, and Sam. The Lemels have chosen to live in Brevard for its quiet beauty and down-to-earth people. Dr. Lemel enjoys raising his children, outdoor adventures, and on occasion can be found piloting the skies of Western NC.
His areas of expertise include, hand surgery, foot & ankle surgery, elbow surgery, and microvascular surgery.
