2011 Season(Freshman): Appeared in nine games for the Tornados at linebacker...Recorded 38 tackles (18 solo, 20 assisted)...Recorded 0.5 tackles for loss for -2 yards.
High School: Gruber comes to Brevard from Walterboro, S.C. and Dorchester Academy where he played for Coach Stanley Gruber. Gruber was a four year starter on the varsity squad at Dorchester, accumulating 165 tackles in his senior season. Gruber was selected to the All-Region team in both 2009 and 2010 and was an All-State Selection in 2010. He was Also named the HSSR SCISA Class A Player of the year in 2010, being selected to the Oasis Shrine Bowl where he led the South team in tackles. He was also a member of the baseball team.
Off the field, he was a Boys State Candidate, as well as a Mr. Challenger Nominee. He is the son of Brenda and Nate Bristow and Michael Gruber, Sr.
