Brevard picked 12th in 2016 SAC preseason poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Brevard College Tornados were selected to finish 12th in the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer Preseason coaches’ poll, it was released by officials of the league office on Monday.


The Tornados capped off the 2015 season with a 4-10-2 overall recording, including a 2-9 conference mark with wins over Coker and Catawba. Brevard’s two conference win were the second most in school history since joining NCAA Division II behind the 2014 squad that picked up three wins in the prior season.


“We return a strong core of players and veteran leadership on this year’s squad,” said head women’s soccer coach Juan Mascaro. “We will be able to compete in every game with play.”


Defending SAC regular-season and tournament champion Carson-Newman was the leading vote getter, while Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne rounded out the top three with 112 and 106 points, respectively.


The remaining of the coaches poll featured Queens (89), Anderson (81) and Tusculum (65), while the bottom half of the standings included Newberry (59), Lincoln Memorial (57), Coker (33), Catawba (28), Mars Hill (27) and being rounded with Brevard (20).

Season ends on senior day

BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College’s women’s team concluded the 2015 season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Queens University 2-0. Brevard ends the campaign with a 4-10-2 overall record and 2-9 in South Atlantic Conference play.

Tornados tie with Converse
