Brevard College Athletic Director, Myranda Nash, announced the hire of Phil de Montmollin as Sports Information Director for Tornado Athletics.
De Montmollin began his appointment in September of 2018 joining the Tornados after serving as the Sports Information Director and Adjunct Professor for seven years at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida.
"We are thrilled to welcome Phil to the Tornados Family," said Myranda Nash. "His vast experience in the communications field will serve our student-athletes, coaches, and community tremendously. His commitment to student-athlete success throughout his career will make him the perfect fit for Brevard College."
His role in college athletics extends back to 1996-99, where he served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of Miami. There, de Montmollin oversaw communications and media relations for NCAA Division I baseball, women's soccer, and women's golf. His role elevated during 1999-2000, as he transitioned to Assistant Sports Information Director over the nationally recognized University of Miami football team. While with the "U", de Montmollin was also the executive producer of the coaches' television show.
Outside of college athletics, de Montmollin's vast experience in the sports industry branches out even further. After his time at the University of Miami, he served as the Director of Public Relations at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, where he launched PR programs that educated local media and the general public on the sports of NASCAR and IndyCar. These public relations efforts led to record-breaking ticket sales at Homestead-Miami. De Montmollin kept close to the racing industry after his time at Homestead-Miami. He worked for Lighthouse Marketing LLC for three years, where he served as an Account Supervisor and transitioned to the Vice President. During his time with Lighthouse, he launched multiple public relations programs alongside brands such as Nicorette and Goody's. De Montmollin also coordinated PR programs as vice president and managed brand relationships with NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports, and Jeff Gordon, among other corporate entities.
"I am greatly looking forward to starting a new adventure at Brevard College and working with the sensational coaches and staff at BC," said de Montmollin. "Brevard is a unique opportunity with so much to offer. I can't wait to get started publicizing all the excitement surrounding the Tornados".
De Montmollin was recently awarded the Sun Conference Sports Information Director of the Year during his time with St. Thomas. In addition to his copious experience within athletics, de Montmollin served as a TV/Radio Statistician for the Miami Heat for over a decade and currently also works as a Talent Statistician for ESPN College Football and a Stats Stringer for Major Leage Baseball Advanced Media.
De Montmollin graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in History from the University of Florida and also holds a Master's of Science degree in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University.
