Travis Gray was named the head coach of the Brevard College Climbing team in November of 2016. Climbing became an official athletic sport after its success as a club at Brevard. Travis was a graduate of Brevard in 2014.

Gray enters his fourth year at the helm of the Brevard College climbing team - one of the nation's first and only varsity collegiate climbing programs. 

During his time as a student, Gray was the founder and president of the Brevard College Climbing Team Club, where he competed in the USA Climbing Collegiate Series, and was ranked 12th nationally in 2014. Following his graduation, Gray became the Staff Advisor of the club.

Prior to being named head coach, Travis worked in the Admissions department of Brevard College, where he served as an Admissions Counselor from May 2016 – November 2016, and Campus Visit and Event Coordinator during the 2015-16 school year.

Travis brings several years of climbing experience to his coaching position as he began climbing at the age of 12 and competing at 14, learning to climb on Moore’s Wall located near his hometown. Gray is also sponsored by Evolv Sports, where he serves as an athlete and ambassador.

Travis worked at Tumble Bees Ultimate Climbing Gym in his hometown of High Point, N.C. as a rock climbing instructor for 2008-2012. While at Brevard, Travis was employed at the Brevard Rock Gym assisting customers by teaching safe and effective indoor rock climbing skills. Following graduation, Gray worked for a year at Triangle Rock Club in Raleigh, N.C., where he specialized in creating new and challenging routes for all three Triangle Rock Club locations.
