BREVARD, N.C. - Brevard College women's soccer junior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas was selected as the USA South Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in the 2019 season following an impressive week in goal for the Tornados.
The honor marks Rojas' second Defensive Player of the Week nod of the season, and third overall in her Tornado career.
Rojas led the Tornados to a 2-0-1 record in three matches last week at Ives-Lemel Family Field, including an undefeated 2-0 mark in conference play over the weekend.
In 290 total minutes in goal, the Murrieta, California native stopped 22 of the 23 shots she faced and posted two shutouts over the course of the week. In a scoreless draw with Warren Wilson, Rojas collected nine saves. In a 1-0 victory over USA South foe Agnes Scott, Rojas again made nine saves. Finally, in a 2-1 win over USA South rival Wesleyan, Rojas grabbed four shots.
Rojas and the rest of the women's soccer team will look to continue their winning ways when the Tornados return to action this Saturday, October 19. Brevard visits Berea, Kentucky for a conference clash against Berea College, with first touch slated for 1 p.m. on the road.
