BREVARD, N.C. - Freshman Hannah Spear earned a singles win and teamed up with Carmen Boone to pick up the doubles victory in Brevard's 7-2 setback to LaGrange on Friday afternoon. The combination of Spear and Boone took down Alexandria Chenowith and Mikayla Drake 8-3, and Spear beat Drake 7-5, 2-4 before Drake was forced to retire.
Kelsey Kushner was in a three-set battle with Jenna Eppes, 6-7, 6-1, 11-9, in what proved to be the only three-set match of the afternoon. LaGrange was able to clinch the team-match victory at the conclusion of the No. 5 matchup between Chenowith and Boone, as Chenowith won 6-0, 6-4.
Brevard fell to 4-9 following the setback, and will look to regroup tomorrow as the Tornados will take on Huntingdon at the Brevard Tennis Courts, with the match set to begin at 10 a.m.
